Kuroko's Basketball
The Teiko Middle School Basketball Team.
The class that produced three perfect seasons in a row, with five once-in-a generation players, called "The miracle generation".
There was another player who all of them respected...
A legendary 6th player.
An up-and-coming power player, Taiga Kagami, is just back from America. When he comes to Seirin High School, he meets the super-ordinary boy, Tetsuya Kuroko. Kagami is shocked to find that Kuroko isn't good at basketball, in fact, he's bad! And he's so plain that he's impossible to see. But Kuroko's plainness lets him pass the ball around without the other team noticing him, and he's none other than the sixth member of the Miracle Generation.
Kuroko makes a pact with Kagami to defeat the other members of the Miracle Generation, who have all played basketball at other schools.
A battle of light (Kagami) and shadow (Kuroko) begins!
Kuroko is a member from the legendary middle school basketball team known as -The Generation of Miracles-, and while nobody seems to know about him, the main 5 players of the team all admit that he is a better player. When he joins the high school basketball team, everyone is surprised to find out that he is small, weak, and easy to miss. What is the secret that makes him so strong, and how will he help his high school team?
Seirin High (誠凛高校, Seirin Kōkō) is a high school basketball team in Tokyo where Tetsuya Kuroko and Taiga Kagami play. The basketball club was founded only one year before the current story-line by Teppei Kiyoshi,[1] so the team only consists of first and second-years. Quite unusually, the team's coach is a woman, daughter of sports trainer, Riko Aida. Her gender and age has caused some to think that she's a manager. The club's captain is Junpei Hyūga.
Seirin High is noted for having an exceptional high-leveled run-and-gun style. Their offensive firepower is considered one of the best in the region. Their main line-up is composed of the rookie-duo Kuroko and Kagami, "Iron Heart" Kiyoshi, the clutch shooter Hyūga and the control tower Izuki.[2]
Seirin got through the Interhigh preliminaries, but were defeated in the final league. In the current Winter Cup, they have already beat Tōō Academy, Yōsen High and Kaijō High in the semi-finals, and have now advanced to the finals of the WC, where they will face Rakuzan High.

Now, Seirin is competing in the Winter Cup. The first round was against Tōō High, the opponents they lost to last time. All odds were against Seirin, but with the awakening of Kagami and the battle of Aomine and Kagami's Zone ability eventually led to Seirin's win with one point. In the second round, Seirin played the whole game with all freshmen benched and narrowly won. In the third round, Seirin played the first three quarters in the same way, but used Kagami and Kuroko in the final quarter to secure victory. In the quarter-finals, Seirin won a tough match against the powerhouse Yōsen High and was set to play Kaijō, their original rivals, in the semi-finals. After an extremely tough match, with both teams and aces performing exceptionally, Seirin eventually emerged victorious. The finals are next, where Seirin will face Rakuzan, the Emperor.
Kaijō High (海常高校, Kaijō Kōkō) is a basketball team from Kanagawa. They are a very strong team who regulary make appearances in the Interhigh. They have one of the Generation of Miracles, Ryōta Kise which makes them even stronger than before. Their captain is Yukio Kasamatsu. They competed in the Winter Cup, played in the semi-finals against Seirin High. Having reached the semi-finals of the tournament, Kaijō High were placed in a third place match, in which they eventually lost due to Kise's injury.[1]
Last year, they were defeated early in the Interhigh preliminaries. At a crucial moment in a match, Kasamatsu made a miss pass and their opponents overtook the match. Although some blamed Kasamatsu for their loss, Kaijō's coach, Takeuchi, made Kasamatsu the captain.[2] Kasamatsu decided to win the next Interhigh, but they were defeated by Tōō in the quarter-final.
Because of their Interhigh participation, they are now competing in the Winter Cup. They passed the first three rounds and won against Fukuda Sōgō High in the quarter-finals, placing them for the semi-finals against Seirin High. After a tough match, Seirin emerged victorious.
Having lost to Seirin, they are placed into a Third Place Match against Shutoku who also lost to Rakuzan. Because Kise didn't play, Shutoku eventually won because they weren't able to stop Midorima.
Shūtoku High (秀徳高校, Shūtoku Kōkō) is one of the Three Kings of Tokyo. Their ace is the Generation of Miracles shooter, Shintarō Midorima. They are one of the Three Kings of Tokyo, though Seirin defeated them this year in the preliminaries, denying them access to the Interhigh. Their captain is Taisuke Ōtsubo.
This year, they were second in the A Block and advanced to the Winter Cup preliminaries. They managed to gain a ticket to the actual Winter Cup and will face off against all the main teams. They have lost against Rakuzan High in the semi-finals. Having managed to reach the semi-finals, Shūtoku faced Kaijō for a third place match, which they eventually won, crowning them third place in the Winter Cup.[1]
Tōō Academy (桐皇学園高校, Tōō Gakuen Kōkō) is a school in Tokyo where Daiki Aomine plays. They were as good as unknown in the past, but have recruited national-level players the past year[1] and are now one of the best teams from Tokyo.
In this year's Interhigh they ended second, after Rakuzan High. Because of this, they were automatically placed for the Winter Cup. They faced Seirin High in the first round of the Winter Cup, but were defeated. With this loss, the third-years of the team retired. Imayoshi handed the captain position over to Wakamatsu.
Tōō Academy was not a strong contestant in the past, but recruited much strong and powerful players, including Aomine, and are now a strong threat in the high school tournaments.[1]
This year, they won the entire Interhigh preliminaries, each match with more than 100 points scored. They advanced to the final league and there encountered Seirin High. Tōō won that and the other matches and went on to the Interhigh. There they had to play a match against Kaijō High in the quarter finals and won with a close margin.[2] The eventually broke though to the finals, but lost there against Rakuzan High, marking second place in the Interhigh. Both Aomine and Akashi didn't play in the finals.
Because Tōō was second in the Interhigh, they had a wild card for the Winter Cup and didn't have to play in the Winter Cup preliminaries. At the Winter Cup, Tōō faced Seirin right off the bat, at the first round.[3] Against all expectations, Tōō lost against Seirin and had to end their Winter Cup participation early.
Tōō Academy is a ruthless team. It does not care a bit for team play, friendship or any values Seirin does care for. It completely focuses on player's individual abilities and so there is not much cohesiveness in the team. Despite this lack of team play, they do all have a common understanding: a strong thirst for victory and a complete faith in their ace, Aomine.[4]
Yōsen High (陽泉高校, Yōsen Kōkō) is an elite school in Akita. Atsushi Murasakibara and Tatsuya Himuro play on this team. Yōsen High ranked 3rd in the Interhigh[1], after Tōō Academy and Rakuzan High. They were automatically placed for the Winter Cup and played the quarter-finals against Seirin, which they lost.
Yōsen High is labeled a powerhouse, with many especially wide and strong players, Yōsen is a center team. With three of their team members being the tallest players of the whole Winter Cup, their defense is unrivaled in the region, maybe even in the whole country. In the first round of the Winter Cup, Yōsen managed to keep the other team completely from scoring, the match ended at 81 – 0.
Rakuzan High (洛山高校, Rakuzan Kōkō) is a prestigious school in Kyoto where the captain of the Generation of Miracles, Seijūrō Akashi, and three of the Uncrowned Kings play. They are also mentioned as the defending champion of the Winter Cup for the past five years and the school who won most tournaments, according to Hyūga. They are also the winners of this year's Interhigh.[1] Because of this, they are automatically placed for the Winter Cup. They have just won the Winter Cup semi-finals against Shūtoku High and have qualified for the finals.[2]
Their victory against Tōō Academy in the Interhigh finals, gained them the reputation that they are a team of monsters. Although notably, both Aomine and Akashi were absent from that match.
